Membership Terms and Conditions

By applying for and maintaining membership with the Powerlifting Association of the Philippines (PAP), the applicant (“Member”) agrees to comply with the following Terms and Conditions. These terms are intended to protect the integrity of the sport, ensure compliance with national and international standards, and clarify the rights and responsibilities of all members.



1. Membership Eligibility

1.1 Membership is open to individuals who meet PAP’s eligibility requirements, including but not limited to age, citizenship or residency requirements (if applicable), and compliance with PAP, IPF, and related federation rules.

1.2 All information submitted in the membership application must be true, accurate, and complete. Submission of false, misleading, or incomplete information may result in denial, suspension, or revocation of membership without refund.

1.3 PAP reserves the right to approve or deny any membership application at its sole discretion.



2. Membership Types and Validity

2.1 PAP membership is valid only for the period specified by PAP (typically one calendar year), unless otherwise stated.

2.2 Membership is non-transferable and may only be used by the registered individual.

2.3 Renewal is the responsibility of the Member. Failure to renew on time may result in loss of eligibility to compete, officiate, vote, or receive other member privileges.



3. Membership Fees

3.1 Membership fees are set by PAP and may vary depending on membership type (e.g., athlete, coach, referee, volunteer, or official).

3.2 All membership fees are non-refundable, except in cases expressly approved by the PAP Board.

3.3 PAP reserves the right to revise membership fees with prior notice.



4. Rights and Privileges of Members

4.1 Active members in good standing may be eligible to:

  1. Participate in PAP-sanctioned competitions (subject to qualification and eligibility rules)
  2. Represent PAP in local or international events (when selected or endorsed)
  3. Access PAP programs, announcements, and official communications

4.2 Voting rights are granted only to registered teams, exercised through their officially designated representatives, who must be active PAP members in good standing.

4.3 Individual members (including athletes, referees, coaches, officials, and volunteers) do not have independent voting rights unless they are acting as an authorized team representative.

4.4 Membership does not guarantee selection, endorsement, participation, or voting rights beyond what is expressly provided under PAP rules.

4.2 Membership does not guarantee selection, endorsement, or participation in any specific competition or event.



5. Duties and Responsibilities of Members

5.1 Members must comply with:

  1. PAP Constitution, By-Laws, policies, and resolutions
  2. International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) rules and regulations
  3. Anti-doping rules and testing procedures
  4. Codes of conduct, ethics, and discipline

5.2 Members are expected to act in a manner that upholds the integrity, reputation, and values of PAP and the sport of powerlifting.

5.3 Members must keep their contact information current and ensure they receive official PAP communications.



6. Anti-Doping and Fair Play

6.1 All members agree to be bound by PAP, Philippine National Anti-Doping Organization (PHINADO), International Powerlifting Federation (IPF), and World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) anti-doping rules, including in-competition and out-of-competition testing.

6.2 Members acknowledge the authority of PHINADO to conduct doping control, results management, and enforcement of sanctions in accordance with national and international anti-doping regulations.

6.3 Any anti-doping rule violation shall be handled in accordance with applicable PAP, PHINADO, IPF, and WADA regulations.

6.4 Sanctions imposed due to anti-doping violations or serious misconduct may include suspension, disqualification, loss of results, ineligibility, or permanent revocation of membership.



7. Discipline, Suspension, and Termination

7.1 PAP may suspend or terminate a membership for reasons including, but not limited to:

  1. Violation of PAP, IPF, or competition rules
  2. Misconduct, unethical behavior, or actions damaging to PAP
  3. Failure to comply with disciplinary decisions or sanctions

7.2 Disciplinary actions shall follow PAP’s established disciplinary and due process procedures.

7.3 Termination or suspension of membership does not entitle the Member to any refund.



8. Use of Name, Image, and Likeness

8.1 By becoming a member, the Member grants PAP the right to use their name, image, video, and likeness for legitimate purposes, including but not limited to:

  1. Event promotion
  2. Official results and rankings
  3. Media, marketing, and educational materials

8.2 Such use shall be without compensation unless otherwise agreed in writing.



9. Data Privacy and Protection

9.1 PAP collects and processes personal data in accordance with the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012.

9.2 Personal information will be used solely for legitimate association purposes, including membership administration, competition eligibility, and official communications.

9.3 Members consent to the collection, storage, and processing of their data as required for PAP operations.



10. Liability and Assumption of Risk

10.1 Members acknowledge that powerlifting and related activities involve inherent risks.

10.2 PAP, its officers, board members, volunteers, officials, and partners shall not be held liable for any injury, loss, or damage sustained during training, competition, or PAP-related activities, except where required by law.

10.3 Members participate in PAP activities at their own risk.



11. Amendments

11.1 PAP reserves the right to amend or update these Terms and Conditions at any time.

11.2 Continued membership after any amendment constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms and Conditions.



12. Governing Law

12.1 These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of the Philippines.



13. Acceptance

By submitting a PAP membership application and/or paying the membership fee, the applicant acknowledges that they have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and Conditions.
